MALE SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION

Sexual health is an important part of a man's life, no matter his age, civil status, or sexual orientation.  Sexual problems in men are very common and impact sexual health. Many problems with sexual health can be treated.  The definition of sexual dysfunction is the inability to have a satisfactory sexual relationship. This definition depends on each person's own interpretation on what he judges satisfactory. In general, sexual dysfunction can affect the quality of life and, even more importantly, can be the first symptom of another medical or psychological problem.

The most common problems related to sexual dysfunction in men:

• Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is commonly called impotence.  It’s a condition in which a man can’t achieve or maintain an erection during sexual performance. Symptoms may also include reduced sexual desire or libido.  Erectile dysfunction affects as many as 30 million men in the United States.  Many patients are successfully treated using commercially available medications (i.e. Viagra), for some patients these do not work and are prohibitively expensive.

Troches are much like lozenges.  They dissolve slowly between your tongue and cheek.  You’ll get an immediate outcome and it will also last longer as the troche slowly dissolves in your mouth.  

Rapid Dissolve Tablets (RDT), as you imagine, rapidly dissolve in your mouth.  The onset of the erection is much quicker than regular tablet form and is the quickest method of all forms.

• Premature Ejaculation

Premature ejaculation is a common sexual problem that affects men of all ages and unfortunately its causes are poorly understood, making it a complex problem to treat.  It is commonly treated with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (i.e. fluoxetine) but these medications have many unwanted side effects. At Telo-Revers, we developed a compounded oral capsule that contains tramadol, dextromethorphan, and sildenafil with a less side effect profile as seen with SSRIs.  Normally taken 1 to 2 hours before sexual intercourse, and has been to be an effective treatment for premature ejaculation.

• Low Testosterone

As a man ages, the amount of testosterone in his body naturally gradually declines commonly known as andropause.  This decline normally starts after age 30 and continues throughout life. Low testosterone levels (scientifically termed hypogonadism) has lead to decreased well-being, increased risk of cardiovascular disease, loss of muscle, increased risk of Type 2 diabetes and other metabolic syndrome diseases, reduced sexual function, and bone loss.  Some benefits of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) are improved sexual function, increase in lean muscle mass and strength, mood and cognitive function, with possible reduction in frailty and osteoporosis.
